We provide a range of services in communities across England to help individuals and their families with drug or alcohol issues.

About Our Work in Communities

At The Forward Trust, we have over 30 years of experience supporting individuals to overcome drug & alcohol problems. We work with our service users to achieve their goals, whether that’s building a life completely free from substances or simply cutting down and staying safe.

Our services are usually available to those who:

  • Are aged 18+.
  • Live in, or are local to, the area we provide support in.
  • Have issues with drugs and/or alcohol or are impacted by the drug/alcohol use of a loved one.

We provide a wide range of interventions across our community alcohol & drug services to help service users address their needs.

These include:

  • One-to-one and group support.
  • A ‘Community Rehabilitation Day Programme’ for people who want structured support to become abstinent whilst living in their community.
  • Health checks and testing for blood-borne viruses, including Hepatitis C.
  • Prescribed medication and naloxone dispensing.
  • Help with drug or alcohol detoxing.
  • Needle exchange.
  • Peer support.
  • And much, much more.

We also provide family support to help those who are struggling with a loved one's substance use.

You can check which interventions each service runs by exploring the communities we work in below.

How Do You Go About Referrals?

Most of our community services accept referrals from:

  • Individuals who are concerned about their own drug and/or alcohol use.
  • Health professionals or practitioners who are concerned about a patient’s drug and/or alcohol use.
  • People who work in the criminal justice system who are concerned about someone else’s drug and/or alcohol use.
  • Please note that we are unable to accept referrals from an individual’s friends and/or family members.

To make a referral, please visit the community hub’s page and fill out the form provided. Alternatively, if you have any questions about the referral process, get in touch using the details below.
